U.S. Ambassador Huckabee Rejects French Minister’s Claim, Criticizes France’s Gaza Policy as Empowering Hamas

Washington, D.C. – August 1, 2025 – U.S. Ambassador Huckabee issued a sharp rebuttal to claims by the French Foreign Minister suggesting she had praised France’s diplomatic efforts regarding the Gaza crisis. In a strongly worded statement, Huckabee clarified her position, accusing France of mishandling the situation and inadvertently strengthening Hamas through its advocacy for a two-state solution.

“It appears the French Foreign Minister claims I praised the ‘work’ France is doing for Gaza. Hardly!” Huckabee stated. “I’ve said emphatically they have boogered up the process by foolishly calling for a ‘two-state’ solution, and all they have done is empower Hamas.”

The ambassador’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with ongoing debates over the best path to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. France has been vocal in supporting a two-state solution, a stance that Huckabee criticized as counterproductive, arguing it bolsters Hamas, the militant group controlling Gaza.

Huckabee’s remarks have sparked reactions from diplomatic circles, with some analysts viewing her blunt language as a reflection of broader U.S. frustrations with European approaches to the conflict. The French Foreign Ministry has yet to respond to the ambassador’s statement, but the exchange underscores the challenges of coordinating international efforts to address the Gaza situation.

As the debate continues, Huckabee’s comments highlight the complexities and divisions in global diplomacy surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian issue, with no immediate resolution in sight.
